Against Long-Distance Relationships (LDR)? Understand the Benefits!

Long-distance relationships, or what is known as LDR (long distance relationship) carry a bad stigma and tend to be avoided by some people. Perhaps you are one of them. Perhaps you doubt LDR because there are family or friends who advise you not to be in this kind of relationship.
Indeed, distance is an important factor in a relationship. Many things are hard to do because of being in different places. You also find it easier to feel lonely while being in an LDR. However, that does not mean a long-distance relationship is impossible or reduces the success of a relationship.
Consider the points below so that you do not lose heart when you have to be in a long-distance relationship!
LDR with God
As Christians, we should understand what it feels like to be in a long-distance relationship. Why? Because we keep striving to be faithful and love God even though we cannot see Him directly.
Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. You believe in Him, even though you do not see Him now. – 1 Peter 1:8a (TB)
If your relationship with the Creator whom you have never seen can be lived out successfully, why not with your LDR?
When a long-distance relationship feels like a nightmare to you, remember this verse:
There is no fear in love: perfect love drives out fear; because fear involves punishment, and whoever fears is not perfect in love. – 1 John 4:18 (TB)
Sincere love will remove the fears that are often experienced in a long-distance relationship. By having this kind of love, an LDR is very possible to live out, and it can even strengthen your relationship with your partner. Curious?
Know the added values of LDR that can become a recipe for success in a relationship.
The Benefits of Building a Long-Distance Relationship
1. More Dedicated Time, Heart, and Mind
When you are close by, it is easier for you to take your time with your partner lightly. Many distractions in daily life can divert both your attention. On the other hand, when you are far apart, you and your partner will usually dedicate special time to be together. Limited time makes you more focused and intentional when talking heart to heart with them. 2. Reducing the Temptation of Impurity
Distance does not guarantee the disappearance of the temptation of the sin of impurity. However, when you are far apart, temptation will tend to decrease significantly. You can focus more on building trust or communication with your partner without being disturbed by temptation. In other words, an LDR can help your relationship grow in purity before God. Beneficial, isn't it? 3. Time for God
When you are far apart, you will rely on technology to communicate with your partner, and therefore have more personal time. Why? You no longer need to spend time getting ready, traveling, or spending a full day having fun together with them.
You can use this extra time for God, family, friends, or other people who need you. This means you and your partner have more opportunities to grow each of your personal character. In the long run, this character growth can certainly strengthen your relationship.
Contrary to common stigma, it turns out that a long-distance relationship in the Lord has many benefits. Start by changing the way you view LDR. May you become more enthusiastic about growing in your relationship. Enjoy your LDR! - Reference: www.gotquestions.org/long-distance-relationships.html
