Good News from the Palangka Raya Congregation - Angel

A Young Heart Willing to Be Changed

A change of heart can happen in many ways, especially in difficult situations that force us to change our way of life. The year 2020 was a memorable year for our younger sister Teens Angel, from the Palangka Raya Congregation. Besides the COVID-19 pandemic that required her to attend school online, she also received the opportunity to study the Bible and become a disciple of Jesus.

Angel first came to know the community of Jesus' disciples three years ago, when she lived with her older brother, Robin, who is the leader of the Palangka Raya Congregation. At that time Angel was still in junior high school, at an age that is vulnerable to being influenced by emotional fluctuations. She became a moodyperson, less respectful of others, and difficult to advise. In addition, she was also undisciplined, often played on her phone until she lost track of time, and was lazy about tidying her room.

These things became one of the sources of conflict at home, especially because Angel often rejected direction. She did not yet feel moved to see the parts of herself that needed to change. 

However, the promotion break in April 2020 opened an opportunity for Angel to learn from Teens children in Jakarta and other cities. After regularly joining online worship together with other young people her age, she began to have several spiritual friends. This experience made Angel willing to open her heart to learn about character. 

A number of changes began to be seen as Angel put her lessons into practice one by one. She took the value of honesty more seriously, showed more respect toward others, and was humble in receiving advice. Not only that, Angel is now more disciplined in managing her time and keeping her room clean.

Besides that, Angel also learned to be consistent in having quiet time, praying, fasting, and taking the initiative to invite her friends to join worship and study the word. She became more open about her feelings, and was quick to admit mistakes and ask forgiveness. The atmosphere at home also became more peaceful and harmonious, because all family members were united in heart and mind in applying right values. 

In August 2020, after studying for five months, Angel set her heart on becoming a disciple of Jesus. With this, Angel is the first Teens child to become a disciple in the Palangka Raya Congregation. May through Angel, many Teens children be won over. Glory to God. Amen!
