GKDI Teens Ministry

About us

Teens ministry consists of young people who can be categorized into two groups. The first is preteens, known as junior high students, who are in grades 7-9. The second is teens, namely senior high students, who are in grades 10-12.

Vision Teens Ministry is to become a ministry carried out by teenagers with the purpose of helping them grow in faith through personal mentoring and healthy parenting

This ministry is the ministry that follows after they have gone through the Children’s Kingdom (KKK) period or Kids Kingdom Ministry. This is where our main focus is, namely to build their spiritual journey and faith in a more personal and mature way. They have already learned about God in KKK (Sunday school), which is packaged in a fun, way that is more dominated by play activities.

This is the time for them to learn to look deeper and discover a personal spiritual journey with God. Because at this stage, various questions about identity begin to arise, pressure in friendships begins to appear, and they also begin to be exposed to various values in society. How do we guide them through these crucial times so that they can become mature & stable individuals? That is why this community was formed.

This is the second thing that we in Teens ministry focus on, namely personal mentoring. We believe that this can help them grow spiritually. We also build the core values they need to have as part of an identity that has been adapted to their needs.

S: Spiritual (Spirituality)

U: Unified (Unity)

P: Perseverance (Perseverance)

E: Enthusiastic (Enthusiasm)

R: Respect (Respect)

We call them SUPER Teens! They are shaped to become SUPER teens before God and people.

A Community that Understands Them

The teenage years are also an important season. In this season, they usually begin searching for their identity, who they really are, and their purpose in life. They have a high curiosity about many things and always have a desire to try new things. At the same time, they are also sensitive, unstable, and emotional.

In addition to internal struggles within themselves, they also face many challenges and problems in various areas, such as poor relationships with parents and friends (rejection, bullying, peer pressure), having no goal or just go with the flow, poor time management, a lack of right priorities, and a lack of responsibility.

This is where the role of Teens Ministry helps them. Teens Ministry consists not only of teens, but also teens mentors. These teens mentors serve as guides. They direct the teens to have a right outlook on life according to God’s word and also how to apply it in their lives. They provide personal mentoring so that teenagers can grow in character to become more like Christ. They will be guided to see their relationship with God as the highest priority.

Teenagers are also helped to be more responsible according to their priorities, such as their responsibility as students in academics. A mentor will provide direction and room to develop their talents and capacity. Sometimes, they are more than a mentor. They can be an older sibling, a friend, and sometimes even a second parent for those teens. A place where they can openly share about the problems they are facing.

Teens Ministry is a ministry built on a foundation of family. They strive to love one another and look after one another. They also share joy together. Here we create a positive and safe atmosphere, where every child can help one another.

They learn to become people who do not only receive (take), but also give to one another (give). They learn from one another through quiet time and prayer together. They can share stories and learn how each other solves problems based on their experiences. This is a place where they can care for and support one another to keep doing better and step out of their comfort zone for God.

The same vision and mission, as well as the positive values they see in this community and family, help them grow personally and also in community.

Activities

Teens Ministry is a ministry that is spiritual, fun, and also energetic. Here is a series of their activities! Check it out!

Youth Service

They hold their own worship service specifically for teens held every second and fourth week, namely Youth Service. In that service, they pray and discuss together in their respective small groups before and after the worship service. They can share what they learned and also gain new insight from their friends.

Bible Talk/Bible Discussion Fellowship (PDA)

In PDA, teens can learn the Bible together, play exciting games , and also sing praises to God. In addition, there is also Group Mentoring (PDG), where they can be guided more deeply.

Bible study (Bible Learning), Quiet Time, & Prayer Together

The teens are involved in studying the Bible and helping others study the Bible. They also have quiet time and pray together. The goal is for these teens to know God more deeply and desire to become more like Christ.

Hang Out & Fun Time

In hang out and fun time, they gather for fun, such as eating, playing games together, chatting, watching movies, etc. The goal is so that they can become closer to one another in a fun.

Spend time

Spend time is quality time between two people with the goal of building one another up. In spend time, we communicate one-on-one to encourage one another, build faith, and learn to dig into God’s word in relation to personal life.

Retreat

Retreat is an activity where they go away together, usually to a quieter place away from the hustle and bustle, to be spiritually refreshed again. In a retreat, they will listen to God’s word, gather, eat, pray, and even play games together.

Youth Activity Day

Here, the teens listen to a short devotional (sharing about God’s word), followed by playing games together.
