Good News from the Palangka Raya Congregation - Talents Growing During the Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic can be a bad time for some people, but it can also be a good time for others. It all depends on how we view problems, and how we turn challenges into opportunities. This is what happened to the Palangka Raya Congregation. 

At the beginning of the pandemic, some congregation members lost their jobs. Some experienced a drop in business revenue, and some were even forced to close their businesses. On the other hand, this situation also opened up opportunities for the congregation to share love with one another. Several congregation members made use of the PSBB period to plant crops in their home yards. Some used the opportunity to sell online, and others added delivery services. Still others shared basic groceries with one another, or distributed them to brothers and sisters in need. 

A number of married couples used the stay at home period to be more creative at home. They made snacks for their children and tried new recipes. Time spent gathering and having devotionals with family also increased, so that marital relationships and relationships with children became better.

The pandemic period also opened the door for online worship services (online), so the disciples could still stay connected to one another. This created opportunities for a number of congregation members to learn from other disciples. As a result, they became better equipped and grew a great deal through worship services, PDA (Bible Discussion Meeting), devotionals, and intercity joint classes. Of course, this also gave opportunities for singles to dating and have hangout across regions. 

The same was true for the Song Ministry. Online worship did not automatically make the members of this ministry stop creating. On the contrary, during this period, they were able to learn new things they had never tried before. From initially relying only on their talents for singing and playing music, they began learning the process of recording, editing songs, shooting videos, and more. As a result, the songs they recorded could be used to accompany worship services. Their efforts increased the enthusiasm of other brothers and sisters to create and develop their respective talents. And of course, all of this is only for the glory of the Lord's name. Amen!
