A 30-day daily devotional to understand the attributes of God.
INTRODUCTION A precious relationship always begins with knowledge. When we meet someone for the first time, we do not consider ourselves to truly know that person until we have the opportunity to know them more deeply. As we begin to know that person more deeply, such as what he likes and dislikes, what his life story is, what his personality is like, what his desires and dreams are, we will be better able to build a good and healthy relationship.
The same is true of our relationship with God. We will have a dynamic relationship with God if we can understand and know God well. God, on the other hand, has revealed Himself through His Word. Therefore, to know God rightly, we must dig into the Word of God properly and correctly.
In the following sections, we will learn to understand God based on God’s attributes (or God’s personality and character).
The attributes of God will be divided into four main parts:
- The Existence of God
- The Goodness of God
- The Acts of God
- The Judgment of God
I. THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
Day 1
THE WORD IS GOD
John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God"
The Bible consists of several things: first, what God has spoken; then what God has done (His acts); what God has ordained for humanity; what the righteous or those whom God has specially chosen have understood about God; and stories about people who lived according to God’s purpose. All of these describe who God is. He wants us to know Him intellectually, emotionally, and also personally. Therefore He has provided His Word for us, so that by reading, studying, understanding, and doing it, we will understand God well and ultimately have a right life. The Bible describes the Word of God (Scripture) as living, as judging, as keeping our lives right, etc.
Verses For Reflection: 1 John 1:1-2, John 1:14, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16 17, Psalm 119:9, Luke 11:28, Psalm 18:30, Psalm 33:4, Matthew 24:35, Psalm 119:130, Proverbs 2:6
