Good News from the Pematangsiantar Congregation - Zul

Daring to Leave Wrongdoing Behind

Siantar Congregation rejoiced again because on March 24, 2019, Zul Hutabarat made the decision to become a disciple of Jesus.

At first Zul was a customer of a company owned by a church member, which employed many disciples of Jesus. At the invitation of one of the employees, Zul came to attend Sunday service. After some time building communication with the brothers, he became interested in studying the Bible more deeply.

During his study, Zul faced challenges related to controlling his emotions, negative thoughts, and purity in premarital relationships. Being born into a simple and less harmonious family shaped him into someone who was easily offended, selfish, and jealous. However, as Zul’s understanding of the truth grew, he realized there were many things in his life that did not align with God’s word.

Even though it was not easy, Zul was willing to end his unhealthy relationship with his girlfriend because he wanted to live rightly according to God’s will. Not only that, he also resigned from the cigarette company where he worked because he knew there were many temptations there.

After getting a job elsewhere, once again Zul saw much wrongdoing in his environment. Even though he needed the income, he decided to leave in order to keep his heart pure before God.

Through prayer and the strength of the word, Zul was able to go through every step of his repentance process. He experienced a change in mindset, gained a new and healthy conviction about a life partner, and became more surrendered to God in all things. After three months of studying God’s word, Zul set his heart on becoming a disciple of Jesus.

“I am very grateful, because my life, which used to have no direction, can now be aligned with God’s will,” said Zul in thanksgiving. “What is more, I received forgiveness, salvation, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, all of which I received after becoming a disciple of Jesus. I do not know what would have become of my life if I had not known the Lord.”

Now Zul actively serves in the Singles Ministry Siantar Congregation, and is involved in various worship gatherings and spiritual activities. May Zul continue to be zealous in living his life as a Disciple and be able to reach souls out there!
