The Medan church began on April 4, 1994, by a mission team led by Jonson & Alin together with 12 other disciples. GKDI Medan has contributed to the national church movement by sending out new leader couples such as Sudirman Zebua & Menti Manik (Nias Congregation), Togar & Frieda Sinambela (Manado Congregation), Robin & Eli (Siantar Congregation), and also Reinhard & Monic (Lampung Congregation). Throughout 25 years, GKDI Medan has continued to grow, and by now there are approximately 500 members. And all of that is because of the faith and spirit of the Medan congregation.

Some of the ministries at GKDI Medan Church:
Kid’s Kingdom Ministry

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Kids Kingdom, or Sunday School, is here to provide a healthy and spiritual environment to shape each child’s character. Through open communication and partnership with parents, we hope to join hands to maximize the growth of the children. Blessed with many trained and dedicated teachers and volunteers, as well as many engaging Bible-based programs and curricula for children, they can grow into adulthood with beautiful memories of their childhood.
Teens Ministry

“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are children born in one’s youth” Psalm 127:4
Teens Ministry is a community of teenagers aged 12-18 years old (junior high to senior high school). A community that is fun, energetic, and solid and guided by mentors. Perseverance and discipline in growth are things we put into practice. Encouraging one another is something we are known for. With growing character, we hope we can encourage the people around us and bring them closer to God. In every word, deed, and even thought, we strive to be obedient. First to God, to our parents, and to everyone.
Various activities carried out by Teens Ministry include: Bible study through “Study Character & Guard The Gospel”, TEC – Teens English Community held twice a month with the goal of helping them learn English, sports day held twice a month to have fun in a physically healthy way.
Campus Ministry

Do not let your diligence grow slack; let your spirit burn and serve the Lord. Romans 12:11 TB
A group of young people in college who are often focused only on and worried about grades, assignments, and friendships. A season of searching for identity and questioning life’s purpose. Campus Ministry is a community that guides young people to grow according to the Word of God and to have a positive impact on their surroundings. Supporting, helping, and teaching one another through the Word of God. This is a place where we can be ourselves, fun, family like family and real with one another, and we can also see the growth of our friends.
Various activities carried out by campus ministry include Bible discussion studies, spend time, devotionals, healthy hangout and retreat. These activities reflect that our community is made up of God’s young workers who are passionate, energetic, and have a clear focus - God, others, and winning souls.
Singles Ministry

“But the LORD was with Joseph, so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.“ Genesis 39:2
Young, enjoyable, yet spiritual. Just as God always wants to build a relationship with us, so too the Singles community focuses on the growth and guidance of men and women who are working or not yet married. Having the same values makes it a very safe place to share burdens and express feelings. Together we strive to love God in our work and also in our everyday lives. We believe that a disciple of Jesus should be able to glorify God’s name through work by being a light. Like Timothy, who became a light through speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.
Singles Ministry also seeks to equip its members in finding a life partner or building a right relationship with a partner, so that they can build a family that functions according to God’s will.
Marrieds Ministry

Marriage is an exciting stage for many people. Often we enter this stage with many hopes and dreams. Yet along the way, life’s pressures often disturb us. We want to share experiences in marriage and explore the beautiful plan that the LORD has set in His Word. Our goal is to build spiritual families and live full lives. We have regular family gatherings, marriage classes, and counseling for couples.
Godly Men & Women (PIWA)

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar in Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still bear fruit, they will remain full and fresh, to declare that the LORD is upright, that He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. Psalm 92:12-15
The Godly Men and Women Ministry (PIWA) is a ministry for those who have reached their golden years or retirement age. This ministry is a community that keeps striving to guard spirituality, health, and character transformation in order to help and win others. PIWA Ministry is not only an inspiration in the church in wisdom, but they are also united in activities such as hangout, choir, and worship gatherings, without using old age and health problems as excuses to share faith with others for God’s glory.
Those are all the ministries of GKDI Medan. May the Lord Jesus bless you.
