Good News from the Palembang Congregation - Lastri

In the past, Sulastri Ropita Sihombing, usually called Lastri, viewed sin as something normal and inseparable from human life. Because of that, Lastri considered that people who fall into sin are something normal as well.
The change in Lastri's way of thinking began when she applied for a job at a private company in Palembang. At that time, Lastri met a brother named Willy. Some time later, Willy introduced Lastri to Sondang, a sister in the Palembang congregation. Through Sondang, Lastri met the congregation and was helped to understand the word of God.
Lastri's biggest challenges while studying the word were laziness and her moodthat easily went up and down. During the lesson about sin, Lastri at one point did not want to be open about her sins. This caused her to stop studying. Besides that, Lastri was also not consistent in her quiet times. However, Lastri eventually realized that she was a sinful human being. Only through Jesus could she receive forgiveness and salvation.
After that, change after change took place in Lastri's life. She, who at first was very easily bad mood, began to be able to control her mood. She, who had been very temperamental, became increasingly able to control her emotions. Lastri could even deny herself in order to overcome her laziness. She also came to see that sin is not something normal, but something human beings must avoid. Luke 16:10-11 became Lastri's turning point in how she viewed sin and her relationship with God.
After ten months of studying the Bible, on October 21, 2018, Lastri decided to become a disciple of Jesus. Now, as part of the Palembang congregation, Lastri has a dream to live a life of service and help others become disciples of Jesus.
"Whoever is faithful in very little is faithful also in much. And whoever is dishonest in very little is dishonest also in much. So if you have not been faithful in unrighteous Mammon, who will entrust to you the true riches?" (Luke 16:10-11)
