If God Wills It, Anything Can Happen
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you. And I appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give you.” – John 15:16
The Lord has His own way of making things align with His will. Even when people refuse, He prepares many paths so that they can come to Him. Leo, the eldest of three siblings from the Medan Congregation, is a witness to this. Since August 2012, his mother, Meris, has been a disciple of Jesus. Mrs. Meris's perseverance in praying for her husband and children bore sweet fruit. In December 2016, Leo's youngest sister finally decided to follow Jesus.
Leo himself had been studying the Bible for a long time, initially through Married Ministry. However, he went through it not out of his own desire, but to spare his mother's feelings. Leo then stopped studying when he reached the topic of sin. After that, he was introduced to the Campus Ministry. Once again he repeated his Bible Study, and once again, he stopped at the lesson on sin because he was not ready to pay the price to follow the Lord. Leo felt this congregation was strange, with too many rules, so he was reluctant to open his heart to study the Bible.
However, Mrs. Meris did not give up on loving and praying for her son. The Lord opened another way, through the evangelism of a disciple who was Leo's coworker. This time, something was different. Leo was more serious and could feel the goodness of the Lord in his life. He then began sincerely opening his heart to be filled with the word of God, not because he felt uneasy toward his mother.
At this stage, Leo was willing to face spiritual challenge after spiritual challenge according to the Lord's teaching. He realized that the Lord had been waiting a very long time for him to come to Him. He continually felt the prayers and love from his mother, younger sister, as well as the brothers and sisters, especially in Singles & Professionals Ministry. They always accompanied him through every challenge he had to face.
On January 12, 2020, Leo firmly took the step to become a disciple of Jesus, witnessed by his father and mother, his youngest sister, and a number of brothers and sisters. Tears of emotion broke out from Leo's mother and younger sister on the day of his baptism, and they praised the greatness of God. Mrs. Meris now has two partners in her family to evangelize and love Leo's father and younger sibling who live out of town. Amen!
