Good Words, the Mark of an Attractive Woman

A beautiful woman will surely draw attention. But a woman who is good, that is what captures the heart even more. An ordinary face, when adorned with a smile, is more lovely than a beautiful face worn with a frown.

Be grateful if you have been blessed with a lovely appearance, but remember that outward beauty will fade with age. Inner beauty, which shines through good words, will make you an attractive person.  

A good person brings out good things from his good treasure, and an evil person brings out evil things from his evil treasure. – Matthew 12:35

So, what kind of words make a woman attractive? 

Women, Those Who Love to Talk

A person's strength can at the same time become her weakness. For example, a woman who is friendly and loves to talk tends to become someone who is talkative. On the other hand, a woman who is caring and attentive can become someone who is easily worried or quick to panic when faced with situations that do not go as expected. 

According to research, women tend to talk more than men. This is because women's brains have more FOXP2, a protein that regulates how much humans speak. Women seem never to run out of things to talk about, from personal life, the latest fashions, culinary trends, rising celebrities, to controversies related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It does not matter whether what is being discussed is not yet clearly true, or is even a hoax.

Several times I have chatted in a group with several women. Every time, there is always someone complaining about declining income, the hassle of accompanying children to study online, or a husband who is uncooperative because he is busy playing games. They compete to throw out complaints. Each one wants to be heard, but is less willing to listen when others are talking. They interrupt and cut one another off, as if afraid they will not get their turn to speak.

Without realizing it, the more a person talks, the greater the potential to make mistakes.

When words are many, transgression is unavoidable, but whoever restrains his lips is wise. – Proverbs 10:19

Women speak up to 20,000 words a day, while men speak only 7000 words. That means women have 13,000 more words than men. Even so, a woman can choose what topics to use her word quota for. If she joins in talking about negative things and complaining, what is attractive about that? After all, almost everyone can do it.

Women, become attractive by doing the following:

An Attractive Woman: Talking About Good Things

Imagine, in the middle of that gathering full of complaints, one woman talks about something completely different. She does not join in spreading fear with baseless predictions about COVID-19. Far be it from her to criticize government policies that have not even been decided yet. Nor does she respond to news with no clear source just because she is afraid of being considered not up to date.

Instead, this woman talks about what is true and can perhaps build others up. In the midst of an uncertain situation caused by the pandemic, she learns new things, develops hobbies, and earns extra income. She does fun activities with her children, and enjoys time alone with her spouse. This woman fills her time in the era of work from home and adaptation to new habits with enjoyable and productive activities. The stories of her life are far from complaints, pessimism, let alone hateful insults.

In an instant, the atmosphere changes. The anxiety caused by fueling one another with negative rumors disappears. At the very least, that group of mothers becomes aware that there are also things to be grateful for in the midst of this situation. The pandemic is not the end of happiness, but it can be a good beginning for the next stage of life. It depends on how we respond to it.

A woman with a positive attitude will share a positive aura with those around her. Those who hear her will feel ashamed of themselves for being so quick to complain. They will also be inspired to see the world from a different point of view. An attractive woman will spread enthusiasm and joy with her words, because she chooses to talk about what is good, true, and beneficial.

Anxiety in a person's heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad. – Proverbs 12:25

An Attractive Woman: Saying the Little Things People Often Forget

An attractive woman does not always talk about big things, or cool and brilliant ideas. There is no need to obsess over using terms that are hard to understand so your listeners will be impressed. Saying simple words that others often forget is precisely what makes a woman so attractive. 

Do not hesitate to say “thank you.” The sanitation worker who carries away your household trash every day will beam when you thank him. It is true that you already pay a cleaning fee every month, but a sincere word will make him feel appreciated and will make him work with greater enthusiasm.

Do not forget to say “please.” When telling someone to do something or asking for help, it is much better to begin your sentence with the word please. Even to a subordinate or household assistant, that does not mean we should give orders in a bossyway. Yes, it may already be their duty to do your work, but by asking for help, they will do it gladly.

Do not be too proud to apologize. In daily interactions, misunderstandings or disagreements are unavoidable. Without making an issue of who is at fault, when you are involved in a conflict, try to resolve it by apologizing first. It may be that your friend is struggling to apologize, and she will gladly welcome the peace you offer.

Do not be stingy with praise. When a coworker succeeds in giving a good presentation, instead of feeling rivaled, praise her. Giving sincere praise will both prevent and heal your heart from envy. Basically, there is no one who does not like to be praised. When someone is feeling down, your praise will brighten her day.

There are still many other good words that can make you an attractive person. What is certain is that your presence will always be missed because it brings and spreads happiness to the people around you.

Let no corrupt word come out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up, as needed, so that it may give grace to those who hear. – Ephesians 4:29
