Good News from the Palangkaraya Congregation - Etri

Seeing Jesus’ Love Through a Sibling
Without realizing it, sometimes the path to salvation is actually close to us. Etri came to know the community of Jesus’ disciples in October 2019 through her older sister, Yessy, who had become a disciple that same month.
A few years ago, Etri had also been evangelized by a sister who was a lecturer at her campus. However, she was not yet interested in knowing God. When Yessy studied God’s word, she repeatedly invited her younger sister to a number of congregational activities, and shared what she was learning, but Etri was still not interested.
At one point, Etri was willing to come to one of the PDA (Bible Discussion Meeting) combined Single & Campus events organized by the congregation. After that, she joined the hangout and came to worship. On that occasion, the sisters invited her to join afellowship, pray together, and invited her to join Bible Study.
Etri, who had previously rarely opened the Bible and prayed, finally gave her heart to go deeper into the word. From there, she began to see the benefits of God’s word in her life. Even though at first she found it difficult to pray and read the Bible, she had a heart that was willing to be helped. Little by little, Etri realized how much she needed God and that only the word could change her life.
Gradually, Etri put each of her lessons into practice one by one. She corrected her mindset and filled herself with positive things, learned to forgive, and made peace with her older sister and her parents. Even though she knew that forgiving and making peace did not mean conflict would never happen again, she is now ready to face it with an attitude that is in line with God’s will.
After studying the Bible for two months and personally experiencing changes in her life and character, Etri no longer hesitated to make the decision to become a disciple of Jesus. Now she and her older sister, Yessy, continue trying to love and guide their younger siblings. Both of them want their other family members to also come to know the truth and have a new life.
The effort and love that Yessy gave to Etri she now applies to her family. And that love has become an inspiration for the Palangka Raya Congregation to continue persevering for their family members who do not yet know God. Amen!
