Good News from the Malang Congregation - Candra & Wawa

Candra & Wawa (Efrata) are a young couple who have been blessed with 2 daughters. They are a couple of disciples of Jesus whom God added to the congregation at the beginning of 2017. The wife’s background (Wawa) is that she was a religious person and an active activist from her college days, and she was always very enthusiastic when talking about ministry. For her, a spiritual Christian is someone who is actively involved in ministry.
After getting married, she hoped that she and her husband could be involved together in ministry in many ways, but it turned out that entering married life was not as beautiful as the stories in romantic dramas. The problems in their family that began to grow and pile up eventually made them drift farther away from ministry, and even their married life seemed to lose direction.
There were 2 things that became struggles in their married life. They struggled greatly in managing their finances, not because their income was lacking but more because their lifestyle left them unable to control their desires, until finally those problems affected their marriage relationship, which grew colder over time. The wife’s dominance also became a problem in their life. Wawa was a very dominant figure in the family, showed little respect for her husband, and always made decisions on her own without asking for Candra’s consideration.
They had already tried attending several seminars and spiritual gatherings and looking for a mentor to help with their problems, but in the end they realized that the core of all those problems was that they were far from God.
The wife talked about it with their friend, and in the end through that friend, they were introduced to the congregation leaders in Malang (Herdi & Sien Sien). They began to be helped and taught about relationships in marriage until finally they were willing to study the Bible. There they realized what they had not had in their lives all this time, even though they were very active in ministry, namely A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
They experienced many changes when they began striving to have a relationship with God. Their relationship with one another became closer, their relationship with family became better, they became more positive in living life, more dependent on God when facing pressure, and the clearest change was that they became people who truly fought to control the desires that had caused their financial problems all this time.
Besides that, Wawa also learned to become more humble and to show respect to her husband. On the other hand, Candra also became bolder in guiding his wife and leading the family. The positive changes that took place in this family eventually impacted their family life. They became more open and would discuss things, and they were even willing to ask for advice when they wanted to buy something.
In the end, after a 5-month process of studying the Bible, they decided to become disciples of Jesus. This was a great joy for them, and Wawa even began evangelizing many of her friends in Malang and in other cities. At present, one of her friends in another city has begun studying the Bible because of her evangelism.
They want to keep growing and very much want to become leaders, to be able to teach the Bible, and their biggest dream for now is that one day their parents, siblings, and friends can become disciples of Jesus.
Glory to the Lord Jesus.
