"Lord Jesus, I Trust in You." What Proves It?

If asked, “Do you believe in the Lord Jesus?” some of us might immediately answer, “Yes. I believe Jesus is my Lord and Savior.” Or, “I worship Jesus,” and the like.

Praise the Lord if we confess Jesus is Lord. The question is, what proves that we confess such a thing? Simply saying “believe” is easy, but what about the attitude of our hearts ? Do we claim to believe, yet our actions are not at all like Jesus?

These 2 Things Prove We Make Jesus Our Lord

There are two simple but important things to do as proof that Jesus is Lord who leads our lives. For that, read first John 14:1-14.

1. Believe in His Words and Promises—At All Times

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, surely I would have told you. For I am going there to prepare a place for you.” – John 14:1-2

Why do we trust someone? Perhaps because that person's actions match his words. Or, he has succeeded in proving that the goods or services he offers can be the solution to our needs.

The Lord Jesus dared to say there are many dwelling places in the house of His Father, because before coming into the world, He lived there. When He returned to the house of the Father, after finishing His task in the world, Jesus prepared a place for us.

We believe in Jesus because all His words are proven and He truly carries them out. For three and a half years, His disciples followed Jesus preaching the gospel, serving many people, and going through hardships together. They became witnesses that what He did was in harmony with His words.

So, if we claim to believe in the Lord Jesus, we should also believe in His words and promises. Let us not doubt, or be angry with Him, when the reality of life does not match our expectations.

2. Do What the Lord Jesus Did

“You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. So if I, who am Lord, and your Teacher, have washed your feet, then you also ought to wash one another's feet; for I have given you an example, so that you also may do just as I have done to you.” – John 13:13-15 Lord .

The Gospels record many things Jesus did while on earth. Jesus healed the sick (Matthew 8:1-17), had empathy for those who mourned (John 11:32-35), and loved sinners so that He was called a friend of sinners (Luke 7:34). He served His disciples, as shown by washing their feet (John 13:1-20). Jesus had compassion on those who were hungry (Mark 6:30-44). He gave His time, His strength, His thoughts, and His heart to serve those who were weary and burdened (Matthew 11:28). Have we done what the Lord Jesus did? When we see a family member suffering, is our heart moved with compassion? When we know a coworker is heavily burdened, are we willing to help? “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; or at least, believe because of the works themselves. Truly I say to you: whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do, and even greater works than these. For I am going to the Father ...”

So, do not call yourself, “I am a Christian, I am a disciple of Jesus, or I live like Jesus,” if we do not truly follow His example. A person who makes Jesus as Lord will believe in Him wholeheartedly and do what He did—and it is not impossible to do works even greater than what Jesus did.

The Lord Jesus has given an example and expects us to do likewise, so let us follow Him. Not everyone will respond positively when we follow the example of Jesus, but keep doing it consistently. By doing everything according to the example of the Lord Jesus, surely we will experience positive change in ourselves and be happier. Amen. - Related Articles:
