I am the way, the truth, and the life.
This is Jesus' answer when Thomas asked about the way to the place where Jesus would be. The disciples' hearts were confused and troubled when they learned that Jesus, who had been with them for nearly 3 years, would no longer be with them physically. (John 14:6)How can we understand His way, His truth, and His life?
The Way
Before Jesus died and rose again, Peter denied Jesus 3 times. But when Peter saw the risen Jesus and received the Holy Spirit, he became someone bold enough to be used by God. Yes, Jesus is the way! When we believe, decide to become His disciples, and are baptized in His name, we will find the way to become more like Him. Jesus has opened His way to all nations. Even though the way He gives is narrow and difficult, He is the one and only Way.The Truth
Proverbs 14:12 says that there is a way that seems right to a person, but in the end it leads to death. Many people use their background and experiences as justification for their actions. Perhaps those “truths” make them feel comfortable and successful. But Proverbs says that in the end they will not bring freedom and will even lead to death. Jesus said that truth comes from His Father (John 14:6). All experiences and feelings will not set us free, but the truth of the word is what will set us free.The Life
But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God has been perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. - 1 John 2:5-6 (TB)Whoever says that he abides in Him ought to walk just as Christ walked. During His life, Jesus grieved, was rejected, and suffered because of His love for the Father and for all of us. Yet He also rejoiced, was courageous, persevered, and continually proclaimed the good news. This is the life we must live.
At Praise and Worship The way, the truth, and the Life held on Sunday, August 27 at 6 PM we will praise His name, praise His truth that sets us free, and praise His life. Together we will worship in song, learn from the Word, and grow into better followers of the Lord!
