Attributes of God: Day 6

Day 6

THE GOD OF SOVEREIGN DECREE (SOVEREIGN)

Isaiah 46:10 “… My purpose will stand, and I will accomplish all My will"

The words of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah show that God cannot be compared to anything else, much less to man. To whom can we compare God? To whom can we liken God so that we find a fitting comparison? (Isaiah 46:5). God is the almighty God; He does what He wants to do. Understanding this attribute of God should keep us from thinking that God does something based on the situation of our feelings and circumstances. God does what He has already determined and what He desires to do.

Verses for Reflection:

Daniel 4:25, "your majesty will be driven away from among men, and your dwelling place will be among the beasts of the field; you will be given grass to eat like oxen, and you will be drenched with the dew of heaven; and this will continue for you until seven times pass, until you acknowledge that the Most High rules over the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He wills."

Ephesians 1:11, "I say "in Christ," because in Him we have obtained the promised inheritance, we who were predestined from the beginning to receive that inheritance according to the purpose of God, who works all things according to the counsel of His will"

Psalm 135:5-7, "Surely I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. The LORD does whatever He pleases, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the deep waters; He raises the clouds from the ends of the earth, He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of His storehouses."

Psalm 115:3, "Our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases!"
