Day 23

THE LORD WHO PROVIDES (YAHWEH JIREH)

Genesis 22:14, And Abraham named that place, "The LORD will provide"; therefore to this day people say, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."

We have certainly read and heard about the quality of Abraham's faith. He believed that if God willed to take, God would surely provide. If God gave the command, God Himself would also provide.

Verses for Reflection:

Genesis 22:8, "Abraham answered, 'God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.' So the two of them walked on together."

Matthew 6:25-34, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; and do not worry about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth far more than they are

Who among you by worrying can add a single cubit to the course of his life?

And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither labor nor spin, yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. Now if that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying: What shall we eat? What shall we drink? What shall we wear? For all these things the nations who do not know God seek after. But your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
