Good News from the Palangkaraya Congregation - Rinus & Lina

Continuing to Love and Serve in Every Circumstance
Faithful in ministry while striving to make a living and pioneer a new congregation is no easy thing. Yet Rinus and Lina, the first mission members in Palangka Raya, kept persevering in doing so and became an example for the other congregation members.
This husband and wife from the Pontianak Congregation moved to Palangka Raya in October 2012, bringing their two children, who are now in high school and middle school. The struggle of starting life in a new city was certainly not easy. This small family lived in a barracks-style dwelling. To support their lives, Rinus became a traveling candied-fruit seller, while Lina worked in a laundry service (laundry). Not infrequently, they had to economize on their daily meals. Even so, they continued to trust and rely on the Lord in all things.
As time went by, God did much in the lives of Rinus and Lina. He answered their every prayer, including by blessing them to build a laundrybusiness. Not only that, their children were also accepted into one of the favorite schools in Palangka Raya.
After opening their own business, both of them became super busy. They had to wake up very early, manage employees, make sure the children were ready to leave for school, and keep up with laundry targets. Yet Rinus and Lina did not stop serving the congregation, giving, and becoming involved in helping in the lives of others. In fact, when GKDI Palangka Raya experienced a leadership vacancy from 2014 to 2015, it was Rinus and Lina who helped keep the worship services going. Rinus prepared Sunday sermon materials and also made sure the congregation members continued to be guided in the faith.
From 2017 to 2019, the Palangka Raya Congregation again experienced a leadership vacancy. Once more, Rinus and Lina took up the responsibility of ministry. The Palangka Raya Congregation was still able to baptize new souls even without a leader.
Rinus and Lina continually give and serve in every circumstance, whether in the midst of busyness, lack, and while experiencing health problems. Not infrequently, besides sacrificing their thoughts, energy, and time, they also had to sacrifice materially. Yet not once did they complain. This is what makes the congregation deeply inspired by their lives, even regarding Rinus and Lina as their spiritual parents . May the two of them continue to grow for the glory of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
