Good News from the Malang Congregation - Jono & Ferycca

Believing in Change

It is not easy to believe in something new when it will change everything we previously believed, and this also means it will change the way we live this life going forward. Perhaps this is what sister Ferycca experienced. After 4.5 years of knowing the congregation, joining Bible study, receiving counseling, and being involved in almost all of the congregation’s activities, Ferycca finally decided with confidence to become a true disciple of Jesus.

They first came to know the congregation when they were in Surabaya in mid-2012. At that time there were problems in their marriage, and in the end Jono and Ferycca were introduced by Jono’s younger brother (a brother) to the brothers and sisters in Surabaya. After several counseling sessions and Bible studies, they eventually moved to the city of Malang to build their business. There they were also introduced to the congregation in Malang and immediately continued Bible study and counseling, but it truly took a lot of time and much proof for them, especially Ferycca, to become fully convinced to live as disciples of Jesus.

Even when her husband (Jono) made the decision first to become a disciple of Jesus, it still could not move Ferycca to make the same decision. But their relationship with the congregation continued well and even grew closer. The love and care within the congregation helped Ferycca see the truth of God’s Word more clearly, and added to that was the change in her husband, who became more willing to love and care for her and their children, making it impossible for her to turn away from that call of God any longer.

On December 25, 2016, Feryyca, together with another sister named Sarai, was baptized in the Lord. Her husband took part in baptizing her, and this was a deeply inspiring victory because once again it was proven that love never fails. When we are willing to keep persevering in love, that person will come to realize it and increasingly experience God through every expression of the congregation’s love.
