Live Life Community - A Place Called Home

The West Jakarta Singles Ministry recently held the inaugural gathering of Live Life Community or (LLC) at Outletz, in the Podomoro City Central Park area, on Friday, June 9, 2017. With the theme A Place Called Home, LLC was attended by 20 disciples of Jesus and 12 guests.

Live Life Community Live Life Community Invitation

So, what exactly is Live Life Community?

Beginning from the dream and guidance of Pastor Muksin and Mrs. Lily Tjitro, singles in West Jakarta gathered and discussed a community that could be built toreach out to more singles, especially young entrepreneurs and overseas graduates who have returned to their homeland and live in West Jakarta. We wanted to facilitate their desire to find a healthy and spiritual community. From there, Live Life Community was formed!

Live Life Community (LLC) opened with dinner and fellowship. This was followed by the singing of several songs and welcoming remarks from brother Bobby Nagara, who explained the meaning of this community, namely a spiritual place so that our lives may be made complete in Christ by knowing Him and His Word more deeply.

The discussion was then opened by brother Nico Gowindra, who invited the participants to describe what Home/a home meant to them, followed by the screening of a short film entitled Into the Wild. This film is a true story about someone who wanted to be free and fulfill his life's ambitions through solo traveling to the point of being willing to erase his identity, thinking his life would be happy once his ambitions were achieved, but in reality it was not. At the end of his life, dying alone in the middle of the forest from food poisoning, he realized that all his happiness would be more meaningful if he shared it with the people closest to him, such as his family.

Live Life Community The atmosphere of the Live Life Community gathering

The participants were divided into two groups, and the discussion began with two questions: what was the moral message of the short film and what were its implications for personal life. Almost all the participants were enthusiastic in answering those questions, and answer after answer grew in meaning.

“People need one another in order to share,” “freedom should have healthy boundaries,” “we need to be careful of selfish life ambitions,” “true happiness is actually not far from us” and many more.

The responses from the friends who attended that night were very positive, and the atmosphere became warmer. Some of them were even interested in further discussion. We also distributed a booklet containing a short devotional, with the hope that it would help them be even more eager to know God.

The theme ‘A Place Called Home’ was chosen with the aim that this community would become a spiritual home for our friends who are currently far from their life's purpose. Live Life Community will return once a month with connected themes that will certainly stir even greater curiosity about the life God has designed for each friend who comes.
