Good News from the Pematang Siantar Congregation - Lexto and Rezelli

Serving God Through a Righteous Life

Serving God is a longing many people have, with one goal: to give their best to God. Perhaps at first everyone has the right motivation, serving God to please His heart and be a blessing to the congregation. As time goes by, motivation can change when we begin to be trusted more in various areas of ministry. Especially when supported by extraordinary talent, it can lead us to receive much praise and trust to be involved in many kinds of ministry.

The story of a brother named Lexto Napitupulu (32) together with his wife, Rezelli Purba (25), inspires us, especially in the married ministry. They were baptized and became disciples of Jesus on May 21, 2017.

Lexto Napitupulu serves in music at a church in Siantar, where Lexto's brother is also a pastor in that church. Lexto is also the founder of a spiritual music school in Siantar. He is someone who is multi-talented and loves to serve; even from a young age he was already active in ministry and was often invited to various spiritual events.

Even though he was active in ministry, Lexto felt there was an empty space within him; he felt there was something he was not getting. He felt spiritually dry. This became a struggle for Lexto, until one day he met a disciple of Jesus who was also his friend. Long story short, this friend began introducing him to the congregation, until eventually Lexto and his wife came to worship together.

At first Lexto did not respond right away when invited to study the Bible. In September 2016, Rezelli, who had already begun studying the Bible, shared a lot with her husband about what she was learning. This softened Lexto's heart, and at the end of October 2016 Lexto decided to study the Bible.

While studying the Bible, Lexto felt doubtful about what was being taught. He felt he already knew, because all this time he had been heavily involved in ministry. He also found it hard to leave the comfort he had already been enjoying.

But God worked by opening Lexto's mind. The lesson about the purpose of life pierced him deeply. He felt that even though he was busy with his ministry, he did not know his purpose. God made him realize that there was an emptiness in Lexto that he could not fill with his life of ministry. Lexto realized that he was walking without purpose, empty, and without joy. He learned to submit to every word of God that was taught and began to learn humility in receiving every input from his teacher. He decided to empty himself, seeing that this was no longer about himself, but about letting the Word of God work in his life.

Lexto repented, and May 21, 2017 became the day he was born again. After Lexto was baptized, he also took part in baptizing his wife Rezelli.

Melayani Tuhan melalui Hidup yang Benar Lexto baptizes RezelliAfter being baptized he said:

“I realized that without a clear purpose in life I would automatically go to hell. Only now do I realize that all this time I did not yet know my purpose in life even though I had already lived in ministry. Now I understand more and can truly feel that God's love is indeed able to transform my life, if I live according to the truth."

Lexto and his wife Rezelli admit that today they have greater joy in living their lives as disciples of Jesus, in their marriage, in their work, and in their family. They are very grateful to be disciples of Jesus, because they can learn the Word correctly.

Lexto now helps the congregation a great deal. He is someone who is very quick to help fellow members who need assistance, and he also contributes a lot in the song ministry, especially in music ministry.

"Now I understand more and can truly feel that God's love is indeed able to transform my life, if I live according to the truth."
May Lexto and his wife continue to grow in God's kingdom, and may their marriage become even more inspiring so that many souls may be won. Glory belongs only to God!
