Through Social Media, God Is at Work
God’s ways are truly extraordinary and hard to predict. He works through various means and media to help the people He loves. This is what Fendy himself experienced, a man born in Malang, raised in Jayapura, and now working there as a supervisor at a pharmaceutical distribution business.
The turning point in Fendy’s life began when his girlfriend, who had been with him for more than seven years, decided to break up and chose another man as her life partner. During that time, Fendy lost his footing and did many harmful things that were destructive. One of them was drinking alcohol. The financial provision he had once prepared to take the relationship to marriage he spent on partying and drinking.
His disappointment that led him into alcohol addiction eventually reached a saturation point. At this point, Fendy realized he had to accept the fact that his ex-girlfriend was already with someone else, and he himself had to move on with his life. He then tried to know God more deeply. How could he live according to the way God desires? How could he become a better person?
God is very good, and He opened a way for Fendy, who was searching for a place that could help him find what he was looking for. One of GKDI’s social media posts stirred his heart to get to know the GKDI community. After contacting the number listed, Fendy was soon connected with the disciples of Jesus in Jayapura. He then asked them how he could study the Bible.
During the study, Fendy’s heart and mind continued to be opened. He realized that all this time he had been very far from God, which had led him into an impure relationship. After two months of studying the word, Fendy became resolved and made the decision to live as a disciple of Jesus.
The hope Fendy has right now is to help the people closest to him come to know THE LORD. Among them are his parents, who have moved to Malang, as well as his other siblings. Fendy also wants to help people who are losing their way, as he once did, so that they can come and know the love of God. To God be the glory!
