Good News from the Medan Congregation - Netty

A Thankfulness That Brings Peace
Social media can become an extension of God's way for someone to come to know the right community. This was one of the means discovered by Netty, a sister from the Medan congregation, to seek God.As the youngest of six siblings, Netty often felt envious of what other people had. This caused her to lose joy and peace in life, because she felt threatened by other people's achievements.
Then one day, in November 2018, Netty saw a video of the GKDI Singles Ministry on her Facebook account. The video touched Netty's heart because it reminded her of a prayer she had made several years earlier. Netty prayed to be brought to a community that could help her know God more deeply and find peace in life. Through GKDI's Facebook account, Netty sent a message to ask how she could join the community.
When her message was answered, followed by an invitation to worship from a member of the Medan congregation, Netty was filled with doubt. Many questions arose within her. Yet, God worked to change her doubts little by little. Netty became convinced that this was God's way and guidance in answer to her prayers all this time. Finally, three weeks later, Netty came to worship.
When she first met the congregation, Netty felt that she was very different from the others. Everyone was very friendly and warm. Easily, she got to know the members of the GKDI Medan Singles Ministry and quickly grew close to them.
Netty then opened her heart to study the Bible after one of the sisters invited her to share God's word. The cross became the answer and strength for her. There, Netty found peace and experienced a change in character. She realized that by being envious of other people's strengths or possessions, and by being less grateful, she was actually tormenting herself.
Netty's next challenge was repairing her relationship with her family. At first, Netty's father did not agree with her decision to become a disciple of Jesus. Even though by February 2019 her Bible Studyhad already been completed, she needed four more months to repair her relationship with her father.
For that, Netty learned to make time to talk and help her father at home. Her now more patient attitude made her father see the change in her. Every process that God allowed to happen, along with the encouragement from the brothers and sisters gave her strength to keep fighting to restore her family relationships.
On June 2, 2019, Netty made the most important decision of her life, which was to become a disciple of Jesus. Extraordinary joy and peace finally became hers. Netty's sincere prayer and right motivation to have a deep relationship with God were fully answered, according to God's own way.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to God's purpose. – Romans 8:28
