Becoming a Disciple with a Gentle Heart and an Exemplary Attitude

Becoming a Disciple with a Gentle Heart and an Exemplary Attitude
The Lord listens to the desires of the hearts of those who want to draw near to Him. This is what Edafie, our sister from the Bangka Congregation (Pangkalpinang), experienced when she wanted to know the Lord.
Raised in a well-provided-for family, Edafie did not need to worry about life's needs. She grew up to be a good child and protected. However, after getting married and being blessed with two children, Edafie's life still felt empty. She needed someone she could rely on. Diligent in worship apparently was not enough, because Edafie could not feel that God was real in her life.
The Lord also answered her troubled heart by bringing her together with a sister from the Bangka Congregation (Pangkalpinang), who was in fact her own elementary school friend. This sister shared her life experience before and after knowing Jesus. After worshiping together, Edafie became interested in wanting to know the Lord through Bible study.
Because from the very beginning she truly wanted to seek God, Edafie's heart was very gentle, so she learned easily and accepted the truth of God's word. Her greatest challenge was letting go of traditions that would make her parents very angry. And indeed, when her mother found out that she was interested in Christianity, Edafie began to experience intimidation.
However, God is truly good. In the end, her mother realized that Edafie was very serious about her choice after seeing the change in attitude she showed during Bible study. She gave her blessing for her desire to keep going deeper into the word, until Edafie was baptized on December 2, 2018.
Over the past year, Edafie has gone through a difficult season in her work. Quiet market conditions forced her to close two business lines that she had started with her husband. Operating costs remained the same while income dropped sharply. Thankfully, Edafie had already come to know the Lord and the congregation. To this day she remains faithful, continually hoping in the Lord, and has many sisters in the congregation who can strengthen her. She did not surrender to fate or fall into stress, but kept trying to rise from financial hardship.
Until now Edafie has always relied on the Lord in all things, and keeps striving to have a life that is pleasing to Him. At present, her husband is still being helped to know the Lord. May their whole family one day have the same faith Amen!
