Day 7

GOD IS HOLY

Exodus 11:15, Who is like You among the gods, O LORD; who is like You, glorious in Your holiness, awesome in renown, working wonders?

Every time the Bible tells or declares something about God, the word mentioned most often is Holy. Everything connected to God is called holy things, a holy kingdom, holy angels, a holy people. Holy literally means set apart, made different, or uniquely distinct. Holy means not the same as others, because His power, His decisions, His decrees, are not the same as others. God’s moral standard is unlike any other. All God’s decisions are right.

If we become part of God’s holiness as His people, then we should have a life, principles, values, and a standard of living unlike others, different, with moral values different from the world, so that people will say, they are truly unique.

Psalm 22:4, "Yet You are the Holy One, enthroned on the praises of Israel."

Isaiah 6:1-7, "In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Seraphim stood above Him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they called out to one another, saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!" At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook, and the house was filled with smoke. Then I said: "Woe is me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, yet my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts." Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said: "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin is forgiven."

1 Peter 1:13-21, "Therefore prepare your minds, be watchful, and set your hope fully on the grace that will be given to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Live as obedient children and do not follow the desires that controlled you in the time of your ignorance, but be holy in all your conduct just as He who called you is holy, for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy. And if you call on Him as Father, namely the One who judges everyone impartially according to their deeds, then live in reverent fear during your time in this world. For you know that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, not with perishable things, nor with silver or gold, but with precious blood, the blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He was chosen before the world was made, but for your sake He revealed Himself in these last times. Through Him you believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and glorified Him, so that your faith and hope are set on God."
