Day 21

GOD IS LOVE

1 John 4:8, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love"

This verse seems like a simple statement, but in reality it is connected to salvation. Matthew 7:21-23 says that someone is rejected because he does not know the Lord, or is not known by the Lord. The parable of the prodigal son shows that the older son who stayed with his father was actually the one who was lost because he did not know his father. The parable of the talents tells of the servant who was given one talent and had a wrong suspicion about his master, or drew the wrong conclusion about his master. Simply put, John wants to say that if we do not love, then we actually are not from God.

John 14:23, states that if we love the Lord, then we should do everything the Lord commands us, including receiving discipline from the Lord as a form of His love (Hebrews 12:6).

Jeremiah 31:3, "From afar the LORD appeared to him: I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued My faithfulness to you."

1 John 4:16, "We have come to know and to believe the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God, and God in him."

Romans 5:8, "But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

John 14:23, "Jesus answered: "If anyone loves Me, he will obey My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and dwell with him."

Psalm 103:17, "But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children's children"

Hebrews 12:6, "because the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastens every one He acknowledges as His child."
